Searching for new home


This self-portrait represents me when I moved to NYC  eleven years ego.  I tried to show what I kind of mood I was in.
I felt scared, vulnerable and bare to new possibilities…. Not to mention I wasn’t speaking in English at all. I was another immigrant in the city. 
The hat is the symbol for my new immigrant status. Only clothing is on my body.
Bamboo field is the symbol for  people of NYC. They surrounded me chaotically…
Lastly house is the symbol for my determination of settling down in this giant city..
NYC was my new world…
P.S. This image is also homage to one of favorite painters Andrew Wyeth—Christina’s World 1948
